2018 Cleveland Indians Francisco Lindor Player Bobblehead

I like how Bauer is honest to say what he is thinking. He knows he is at the top of the leaderboards and isn’t going to be coy and pretend like he would be surprised by an All-Star selection. He has worked hard for years to reach this point and knows he has earned it. Who wouldn’t want a player showing this kind of confidence, especially given how great he has been to start the year?

We will know Bauer’s status for the All-Star Game soon, and his confidence in himself should be rewarded with a selection. If he is snubbed for whatever reason, it is more of a negative reflection upon the process of choosing players rather than on Bauer’s comments.

A generation of artists and hackers have emerged on the internet using open source technologies for experiments in art and design.

CLOUDS is an interactive documentary and a portrait of this community of digital pioneers, explored through the lens of code. The project asks questions about the future of creativity at a time when algorithms play an important role in shaping culture.

People featured in the film include 40 artists, designers and hackers who participate in the co-creation of free tools for creative expression: Processing and openFrameworks. Reflecting the story of these online communities, the software behind CLOUDS was built in C++ using openFrameworks, and includes real-time interactive visualizations by the artists featured in the documentary.

In its revolutionary hybrid format, somewhere between a documentary, a videogame, and data visualization, CLOUDS allows viewers to navigate a web of ideas. It uses a data-driven Story Engine to present an endless ever-changing conversation, where artists co-exist with their code, presented through real-time interactive visual systems and lush 3D environments.

The project has been presented at prestigious film festivals and museum exhibitions as both an installation and a cinematic experience for a live audience. It’s as a software application for audiences at home to download and explore on their personal computers, OS X or PC, with the option of viewing in Oculus VR. The techniques explored in CLOUDS suggest a possible future of storytelling that brings interactive graphics, visual effects and cinema closer together.

In the mid 90s, John Maeda led the Aesthetics and Computation Group at the MIT Media Lab: a space for artists and designers experimenting with software. In 2001, Maeda’s students Casey Reas and Ben Fry built the foundations of Processing, a java toolkit for artists and designers creating work for the web. Over the next decade, Processing was widely adopted as a teaching tool in universities to introduce students to the art of creative coding, while gaining popularity among professional artists for designing interactive graphics and generative art. In 2005, a C++ language called openFrameworks was initiated by Zach Lieberman, Theo Watson and Arturo Castro. OF was inspired by Processing, while designed for faster real-time 3D graphics, and interactive installations using advanced computer vision. OF is now a popular tool for commercial interactive art and non-commercial projects alike. Both Processing and OF remain completely free and open relying on contributions and code addons from communities of individuals around the world who collaboratively build these software libraries using online repositories such as GitHub. As an international phenomenon, popular in North and South America, Japan and Europe, creative coding is broadly considered the first global art movement of the internet age.

Independent non-profit labs, such as the Studio for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon, led by Golan Levin, and Eyebeam Art + Technology Center in New York, have supported the work of these open source communities, and supported this documentary.

In the chapter I contributed to 20under40: Reinventing the Arts Arts Education for the 21st Century , I highlighted a theater company called , a group of 13 playwrights who came together with the intention of producing one play by each of them and then disbanding. In that context, I was celebrating their interest in a mission that could be accomplished in a limited timespan, but they also serve as an astoundingly successful example of an organization centered on artists and driven by the agenda of its founding artists.

The 13P model relies on placing its resources in the hands of each playwright in turn, and hiring administrative and producing help show by show, depending on the needs of a particular project. In Minneapolis, the Workhaus Collective is exploring a similar model while in residence at the Playwrights Center (also a good example of a larger organization offering umbrella services to a smaller one).

Over on the West Coast, my friend Franco Sarto Womens steffie Pastoral Green Suede ilWF48XSEA
was already a successful comics illustrator when he began to feel frustrated by the isolated freelance life and tired of drawing alone in the middle of the night. Reaching out to colleagues in Portland’s rich comics scene, he started Start women Comfortable Summer Bohemia Sandals Clip Toe BeachShoes Herringbone Shoes Khaki PvkbONHiG
as a shared workspace for other comics creators. It has since grown into one of the most significant comics collaboratives in the nation, housing 26 cartoonists, illustrators, writers, concept designers, graphic novelists, and storyboard artists, and touting itself in fine comics fashion as “the grandest collection of comics creators in the Western world.”

Working together has made this already successful group flourish, as they draw camaraderie, inspiration, and practical assistance from each other, and share resources and opportunities. Many members frequently collaborate with each other, and join forces on large commercial or corporate gigs that might have been out of reach as a freelancer. Periscope also invests in the next generation of comics artists (and provides support to its members) with a much in-demand internship program.

in Oakland, CA, is a group of artists who came together with another aim in mind, a desire to connect to the larger Oakland community and to form a community space where artists and community members could teach, learn, exhibit, and share art-making with each other. Riding the cutting edge of participatory arts-making, they successfully raised the money to acquire a space and now offer a wide variety of DIY-style visual arts programs for the community. The collective members donate administrative time while receiving compensation for teaching and other paid programs, as well as the opportunity to develop and show their own work. RPS is a key player in the burgeoning indy arts scene in Oakland and an interesting group to watch as larger arts organizations try to find ways to open their doors to broader communities.

Random weighting, proposed by Zheng (1987) [ 10 ], is an emerging computational method in statistics, and has been used to solve different problems [ 11 ]. The random weighting method has following advantages: (1) it is sample in computation; (2) it does not require the previous knowledge on the distribution, and the estimation results are unbiased; (3) the estimation error of the random weighting method is smaller than that of Bootstrap in the case of small samples; (4) it is independent and identically distributed, and robust; (5) statistic determined by the random weighting method has the density function, so it is particularly suitable for the problem described in the density function. This paper is to develop a robust estimation method of combining analogy with random weighting method for the {\mathcal{G}}_I^0 model, which has the good properties of unbiased, the small mean-squared error and its ability to resist contamination. Even in small samples and low computational cost, its performance is still very robust.

The paper is organized as follows: Section II presents the random weighting estimation for parameters of {\mathcal{G}}_I^0 distribution. In Section III, we will present and discuss the main numerical results. Finally, Conclusions and future work are presented in Section IV.

Random weighting estimation for {\mathcal{G}}_I^0 distribution

{f}_X(x)=\frac{L^L\varGamma \left( L-\alpha \right)}{\gamma^{\alpha}\varGamma (L)\varGamma \left(-\alpha \right)}\frac{x^{L-1}}{{\left(\gamma + Lx\right)}^{L-\alpha}},\kern0.5em x>0

{f}_X(x)=\frac{L^L\varGamma \left( L-\alpha \right)}{\gamma^{\alpha}\varGamma (L)\varGamma \left(-\alpha \right)}\frac{x^{L-1}}{{\left(\gamma + Lx\right)}^{L-\alpha}},\kern0.5em x>0

where −  α  > 0 is the roughness parameter, γ  > 0 is the scale parameter and L  ≥ 1 is the number of looks [ 1 ].

E\left({X}^r\right)={\left(\frac{\gamma}{L}\right)}^r\frac{\varGamma \left(-\alpha - r\right)\varGamma \left( L+ r\right)}{\varGamma \left(-\alpha \right)\varGamma (L)}
(4)

The {\mathcal{G}}_I^0 distribution is very attractive for modeling data with speckle noise, due to its mathematical tractability and ability to describe information from most types of areas, for given α  < − 1 and L . These densities are presented in semi-logarithmic scale, showing that they have heavy (linear) tails with respect to the Gaussian distribution which displays quadratic behavior. It is noticeable that the larger values of α , the larger the variances have; in fact, the variance is not finite when α  ≥ − 1.
